Ubisoft is preparing to release a new defense operator in season Y10S3 called High Stakes, with the codename Denari and the alias Heist. His gadget, the T.R.I.P. Connector, introduces a mechanic to Siege that hasn't been seen before—a chain of laser traps capable of not only dealing damage but also slowing down attackers. The season launches on September 2, with its presentation set for August 17.

T.R.I.P. Connector — A Next-Generation Trap

Denari's gadget is a small device that can be attached to the floor, wall, or ceiling. It's smaller than Valkyrie's camera but has a similar throw range—about the same as Valkyrie's cameras or Ela's mines. Once deployed, the T.R.I.P. Connector links with another such device via a laser beam up to 20 meters long, provided there are no obstacles between them.

The lasers are completely silent until triggered. When an attacker crosses the beam, they take 20 damage, and if they hit multiple beams, the damage accumulates. Additionally, the target is slowed for 8 seconds, giving defenders a chance to finish them off or block the approach. After activation, the gadget presumably emits a sound for 5 seconds or goes on cooldown with the same timer.

Denari has a total of 7 gadgets, allowing for entire networks of coverage that can block key corridors or entrances. The lasers do not pass through walls or objects, making strategic placement a crucial part of the strategy.

Arsenal and Characteristics of the New Defender

Denari is an operator with 3 speed and 1 armor, making him fast and maneuverable but vulnerable in direct firefights.

His primary weapons include:

• FMG-9 (known from Smoke and Nøkk)
• Scorpion EVO 3 A1 (Ela's weapon)

Secondary weapons:

• Glaive-12 — a new slug shotgun with 63 damage and a reload similar to the Bailiff 410
• P226 Mk 25 — a classic SAS pistol

Additional gadgets:

• Deployable shield
• Bulletproof camera

His gadget is a combination of damage, slowing, and area control, yet lacks explosive devices. This setup makes him an excellent choice for strategic defense, especially when paired with operators who can slow or redirect enemy movement.

If the T.R.I.P. Connector proves effective in the pro scene, Denari could become a new meta defender, particularly on maps with long straight corridors and open areas. Ubisoft seems to be focusing once again on tactical depth and creative approaches to defense.
