All Known Information About Siege X and Siege 2

Siege X is a massive anniversary update for Rainbow Six Siege, which will replace the current version of the game and be titled Rainbow Six Siege: Legacy. Ubisoft has been preparing this update for three years, and it will be a key event in the game's tenth year. Unlike Siege 2, which is a separate project, Siege X is a reimagined version of the current game, featuring significant improvements and changes. Ubisoft will officially present Siege X at a three-hour presentation in Atlanta on March 13 at 18:00 CET.

Main Changes in Siege X

Siege X will bring an updated engine, improved graphics and sound, updated operator models, and a redesigned interface. The game's logo will also be changed. New personalization elements will be introduced, including player card customization, weapon inspection animations, and a new exotic item rarity.

Gameplay Innovations

Gameplay will also see significant changes: operators will be able to move along walls using ropes, and maps will become more interactive with exploding fire extinguishers and gas pipes. One of the most anticipated changes is the new 6v6 mode — Dual Front (sector capture), which will take place on the District map. This map is four times larger than standard ones and will be one of the most detailed in the game.

Map Updates

Ubisoft will update several old maps, including Chalet, Bank, Border, Café, and Club. These maps will undergo a complete overhaul, while the rest will simply transition to the new version with improved graphics. The game client will feature a section with tournament and match schedules, as well as the ability to watch matches live directly in the game. New ping icons for metal detectors, sprinklers, and fire extinguishers have been found in the game files. The Siege X teaser hinted at a new cooperative mode, rumors of which have been circulating for a long time.

New Elite Skins and Operators

Additionally, the operator Y10S3 with the codename Heist has been revealed. Siege X will introduce the new elite skin Paragon Elite, with Valkyrie being the first to receive it. In the weapon inspection animation, her barrel will transform into a sword.

Clash Rework and Closed Beta

The Clash rework will take place in Y10S2, with the shield becoming wider but without side panels, as was previously the case with Montagne. The closed beta for Siege X will run from March 13 to 19 on TTS, with access granted via Twitch Drops. To receive a code, viewers will need to watch the official stream for 30 minutes. During the beta, the new 6v6 mode — Dual Front and the District map will be available.

Free Update and Possible Transition to F2P

This is not a new game but a major update that has been in development for three years. It will be free for everyone who owns Siege. There is a possibility that the game will transition to a F2P model, but there is no official confirmation yet. Ubisoft will begin monetizing Siege X with an exclusive Siege X bundle, which can only be purchased with real money. It will include:

  • Siege X icon
  • 2670 R6 credits
  • Animated skin for 556XI
  • 12 operators
  • Legendary set for Ash and Siege X charm

The bundle is rumored to cost $40 and will go on sale on March 13. Additionally, players who have logged into R6 from 2015 to 2024 will receive a "Siege Veteran" icon for free. However, there are rumors that Ubisoft might enhance monetization, making skins more expensive and reworking the in-game purchase system, but this has not been confirmed.

Future of Siege 2

Interestingly, a page for Rainbow Six Siege 2 has already appeared on Instant Gaming, but this should be approached with caution — it might be a page for a future game rather than official confirmation.
