Everything We Know About Anubis: the New Map Of the Competitive CS:GO Pool

What is known about the new map?

Overnight, Valve released an update to CS:GO and changed the competitive map pool. For many players, the update was a surprise, as well as the maps' rotation. Anubis replaced Dust2, which no one could have expected. So what do we know about the new map?

Anubis was first added to the game on April 1, 2020, along with the end of operation "Shattered Network". The map has been updated several times to correct errors. Even then, rumours began circulating in the community that the map could enter the competitive map pool.

However, on May 4, 2021, with the end of operation "Broken Fang", the map was removed from the game. With the same patch, Ancient was added to the competitive map pool.

Valve returned Anubis only in August of this year and, on November 19, added it to the pool of tournament maps.

The card managed to become somewhat famous in 2019. This year, the map creators won the Mapcore competition, which selects the best locations made by the community. At this point, Valve drew attention to the map. By the way, the second place in Mapcore 2019 was taken by Chlorine, which was also added to the game.

The location turned out to be very popular in competitive mode, which is why rumours began to appear about its addition to the professional pool.

Anubis was the second community-made map to be added to the tournament pool. The first was Cache.

The mapmakers also stated that the rights to the map now belong to Valve. The developer bought out the card from the creators.

The map is waiting for balance corrections. At first glance, it is noticeable that CT is stronger on Anubis. This is because the defence controls a large part of the map from the first second. Essential skirmishes will take place in the middle because this point allows you to make quick rotations, so the attack forces will have to occupy it.

Most likely, the main point for T will be A. It is challenging to knock T out if they take it due to the small number of counterattack positions. Therefore, CT cannot be given the A under any circumstances. This makes the map similar to Ancient.

Point B is likely unplayable for the attack. You need to have many grenades due to the many defence positions to engage it. And when occupied, base B is easy to knock out by attacking in the crossfire.

Anubis will be changed in future patches to remove the reduced map control that the defence has.
