The creator of the iconic projects Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, has presented his new game, which currently has the working title Project: Robot. The announcement took place during the The Game Awards 2024 ceremony.
The presentation was accompanied by a cinematic teaser that conveys Ueda's characteristic style. The trailer features a solitary hero who climbs a massive humanoid robot against the backdrop of a countdown to an impending catastrophe. At the climactic moment, the protagonist separates the robot's head, transforming it into an aircraft to escape the approaching cataclysm.
The trailer provides only a surface-level idea of the game's story foundation, and specific details about gameplay mechanics, narrative, and available platforms have not yet been disclosed. It is worth noting that the game is being developed by the Tokyo-based studio genDESIGN, which includes veterans who worked on Ueda's previous projects. The publisher will be Epic Games.
As of now, the official release date for Project: Robot has not been announced. The gaming community is awaiting new information, hoping that Ueda's new project will continue his legacy of creating emotionally rich and artistically profound gaming masterpieces.
