Playing League of Legends for the first time can be a challenging time for a newer player. With over 150 champions in the game, it's impossible for new players to decide which role and which champions they want to play without spending untold hours playing the game first. But which champion should new players look to avoid as they are some of the hardest champions to learn for entry-level beginners? Let's take a look.

Deciding which League of Legends champion is the hardest to play is always going to be a subjective metric. There are countless champions that require excellent mechanics in order to master them. Because that is also important when deciding, as one Redditor in this thread said "Even after a thousand games there's always something more to learn."

Champions such as Yasuo, Kalista, Riven, and many more are all viable options when trying to decide who is the hardest to play. Yasuo to some is considered a "noob champ", because of his low floor, but he actually has a very high ceiling and can feel like a whole new champion in the right hands.

There's also champions that require extreme precision in order to be effective with them. Nidalee is a prime example of a champion that ideally lower elo players should not be picked up unless they are learning the ability to hit skill shots more consistently. Even with the jungle camps, you need to be constantly moving and changing between stances in order to maximize the damage output. Then when it comes to teamfighting, you have to be able to land your spears, because that is her primary source of poke and damage, if you're unable to poke enemies away from an objective, you're of help to no one.

One Redditor says "Nidalee is borderline useless with an extremely niche kit that takes macro knowledge to understand how it meshes together. She's even gatekept in pro play. Only Canyon can play her effectively." And while this may seem a little exaggerated, they aren't completely wrong. Many Nidalee players in pro play continue to play her poorly and it often results in their team losing the game.

Another champion that is difficult to play is Gangplank, who definitely feels satisfying to play when you can hit your barrel combos on a grouped-up enemy team. Gangplank requires a lot of hard hours to play him at a decent level. Because the higher up the ranks you go, the harder it is for you to use your barrels. The enemies deal with the barrels the higher up you go, meaning you have to get more creative with how you place your barrels. The same Redditor said "If you can't ghostbarrel you're useless. Not much more to say there. If you can't do the mechanics on this champion you're dead weight."
