In the Y9S4.2 update, Rainbow Six Siege adjusts the balance of operators and weapons. Developers have reduced Buck's flexibility, sped up Sledge, and reworked shotguns. These changes aim to enhance team interaction and improve tactical gameplay.
Operator Adjustments
Buck lost the charge for reinforced breaching, returning him to the role of a soft breacher with the Skeleton Key. Instead of versatility, he is now more tactically limited, promoting team interaction. Additionally, he received a Claymore to improve map control.
Kapkan has lost C4 and now has barbed wire. This reduced his explosive power and emphasized slowing down the attack. Lesion’s number of GU mines was reduced from 9 to 8, and the cooldown increased to 30 seconds.
Weapon Adjustments
Slug shotguns like the BOSG.12.2 and TCSG12 now have reduced damage at long ranges. This brings them closer to regular shotguns while maintaining effectiveness at medium ranges. To compensate, the TCSG12 received an increase in base damage to 75.
The G36C, used by Iana and Ash, received reduced recoil, making the weapon more manageable while maintaining its effectiveness.
Ecosystem Changes
Sledge became faster, highlighting his role as a close breacher. He can now move between key points more quickly. Ram lost the ITA12S, which enhances her focus on destruction. Each operator now has their niche: Buck - versatility, Ram - destructive power, Sledge - precision.
