Over a week ago, former BC.GAME player Joel "joel" Holmlund received a ban from the Akros anti-cheat system, preventing him from participating in various tournaments, particularly the Champion of Champions Tour (CCT). Following this, many suspicious teams previously suspected of foul play stopped winning.
Zero Tenacity also lost their winning streak after joel's ban, sparking intense discussions within the community, where many expect that other teams potentially using third-party software might also face bans.
Zero Tenacity Decline
After joel's ban, Zero Tenacity has struggled to secure victories, losing matches consecutively for the past nine days. Their last win was on August 4th, with a 2-1 victory over Into The Breach in CCT Season 2 European Series 7. Since then, they have lost six matches in a row.
While this could be attributed to a streak of bad luck, before joel's ban, the team had won nine out of ten matches, defeating teams like Fnatic, B8, KOI, Monte, and others. Now, however, they are losing even to weaker teams.
Spooke Performance
Also after the block, the community noticed that Johnny Speeds player Olle "spooke" Grundström, who used to play for Sprout, 00 Prospects, saw his Faciet stats worsen after the block. The week before the ban he had 86.21% wins and 1.27 K/D on the platform, and after it became 18.75% and 0.89 K/D, this can also be described as a setback, but too much of a coincidence.
His statistics during official matches remain unchanged, but it is unclear what anti-cheat was used during the tournament. It's also worth noting that he remains the top player on his team by statistics.
Conclusion
Joel's ban has sparked significant discussion in the community, and teams previously under suspicion have become more cautious. Zero Tenacity has long been considered a questionable team, yet they have shown strong results even in LAN tournaments.
However, after the anti-cheat update, their victories ceased. Moreover, Zero Tenacity defeated many teams that, as a result, did not receive invitations to closed qualifiers. The team is set to compete in the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European Qualifier B on August 21st.
