What Should the New Operation in CS2 Be Like

Any day now, the long-awaited operation for Counter-Strike 2, which the community has been waiting for over two years, is expected to be released. In this article, we'll discuss what the new operation in CS2 should be like to meet fans' expectations.

When Was the Last Operation in CS?

The last operation was "Riptide," which ran from September 22, 2021, to February 22, 2022, in CS. With it, five new maps and five new collections were added to the game. But what will the operation be like in CS2?

Comics

The first mention of comics appeared in the game six months ago. Despite more than two years having passed since the last operation, the last official CS comic was released eight years ago. At the end of that comic, it was clearly stated that the story would continue.

In recent CS2 updates, developers added a license to use the Google font "Bangers." Visually, it's clear that this font fits only comics.

New Maps

By tracking the behavior of map makers, you can understand which maps to expect in the new operation. They are among the few people aware of future updates since Valve contacts them for urgent fixes on maps. Moreover, the map makers themselves do not skillfully hide this information.

Recently, a significant number of changes have been made to the following maps: Thera, Memento, Assembly, Pool Day, and Mills. Most likely, these five maps will be included in the new operation.

Charms

Another major find by data miners is lines of code dedicated to charms in CS2. The first information about charms appeared back in 2017. At that time, there was information about six potential charms: AK-47, Banana, Bloodhound, Grenade, Plasma Ball, and Sugar Skull. Charms in CS2 will move and shake independently of the weapon.

Pets

Recent CS2 updates added new chicken animations, and along with them, various lines of code for picking up and cuddling chickens in hands appeared. These are intended for both viewing in the inventory and in the game. Since the official release of CS2, the words "Pet" have regularly appeared in the game's code.

Most likely, developers are preparing some new cosmetic item for CS2. Whether these will be pets that follow you or something else is unknown. There might even be a new mode where players play as chickens.

Clothing

Developers might be preparing to add character customization. This concept was developed in the early stages of CS but was never added. Data miners found 12 lines of code corresponding to this concept. The latest feature is the ability to customize the head, likely implying various changes to hats and masks.

Additionally, the game's code revealed a completely new hair system for agents. It can be concluded that developers want to allow gamers to choose and customize their characters' hairstyles.

So What Will the Operation in CS2 Be Like?

Most likely, the new operation in CS2, as before, will have a "Battle Pass" format, where rewards can be purchased with stars. Gamers will earn stars by completing various missions. Players will have the option to choose which item they want to purchase. New missions will open every week.

Missions will likely take place on the Thera, Memento, Assembly, Pool Day, and Mills maps. Rewards may include all the aforementioned items: charms, pets, clothing, and hairstyles for agents. As a bonus, Battle Pass holders might get a new comic set in the Counter-Strike universe.

After more than two years without operations, developers are practically obliged to add something innovative to avoid disappointing the community. The community, to put it mildly, has been eagerly awaiting operation content and is eager to get it as soon as possible.
