Shahar "flameZ" Shushan from Team Vitality shared insights into their recent RMR run and the preparation for the PGL Major Copenhagen. Coming off from a last-place finish at IEM Katowice, flameZ described it in HLTV interview as "a good slap in the face," which became a pivotal moment for the team's wake-up call.
Vitality's resilience was evident as they shook off the loss to Cloud9 and went on to secure a spot at the PGL Major Copenhagen with a decisive victory over ENCE. FlameZ took pride in the team's ability to rally from the setback, emphasizing the importance of qualification over the nature of their wins.
Discussing the rough patch at IEM Katowice, flameZ expressed the team's collective desire to settle scores with HEROIC and ENCE, which they accomplished at the RMR.
"Katowice didn't go well but we took it as a good slap in the face to learn more and get our shit together," he stated, confirming that the team had successfully turned the page.
He also add:
We figured out that Spinx and mezii are very good together, so once we put them together, they got things going very well
FlameZ praised the synergy between new additions Spinx and mezii, noting how their combined efforts have positively impacted the team's dynamics. This new duo, alongside flameZ's own positional changes, which included moving from B site to ramp on Nuke, has led to an improved communication flow and overall gameplay.
When asked about the pressure of being the reigning champions at the upcoming Major, flameZ clarified that for him, as well as for mezii and coach XTQZZZ, it’s a fresh challenge.
I don't come thinking 'I need to defend this title,' I need to first acquire this title to talk about defending it.
FlameZ acknowledged a list of formidable rivals for the Major trophy, including the prowess of Spirit and FaZe. He also gave a nod to Astralis' potential, suggesting that once device resolves his current challenges, they could emerge as a powerhouse.
Vitality is gearing up for a challenging PGL Major Copenhagen, where the competition promises to be fierce. With flameZ's confidence in their preparations and the acknowledgment of the elevated competitive landscape, Vitality is set to face any team head-on in Elimination Stage which will kick in on March 21.
