Virtus.pro has made a strategic decision to dissolve its all-female CS2 roster, VP.Angels, marking a significant shift in the organization's esports trajectory. The announcement came through an official statement on the club's website, indicating a temporary halt in this direction to re-evaluate the future course and explore optimal development pathways.
Women's eSports has come a long way since 2022 when we signed the VP.Angels roster. The potential for growth, spectator interest, and competitive spirit are all present. We may well come back with new women's squads in the future, but in the current circumstances, both we and the VP.Angels girls themselves need a definite reset. A lot of clubs are now reconsidering their plans for women's eSports due to the lack of enough tournaments. I would like to thank all the roster members for the time spent in our club
VP.Angels was introduced in December 2022, heralding Virtus.pro's commitment to fostering a competitive environment for women in esports. Despite their potential and the growing audience interest, the lack of sufficient competitive platforms has led many esports entities to reconsider their investments in female-oriented squads. Virtus.pro's move reflects this broader industry trend, seeking a reset for both the organization and the players of VP.Angels.
The last competitive outing for VP.Angels was the European Pro League Female Season 1, where they secured a 7th-8th position. While Virtus.pro steps back to reassess, they express gratitude towards the players for their dedication and contributions during their tenure.
As Virtus.pro recalibrates its focus, the esports community awaits to see how the organization will re-enter the female competitive scene, poised for growth and sustained interest. For now, the pause is a reflective intermission, not a full stop, as Virtus.pro remains open to potential new beginnings in women's esports.
