Valve introduced a new buy menu for Counter-Strike 2 - switching between M4A4 and M4A1-S is no more

Today, the developers of CS2, Valve, released a short video on their Twitter showcasing the most significant changes in the new version of the game!

The main changes include:

  • The buy menu at the beginning of the round has been completely redesigned and now bears some resemblance to Valorant.

  • The buy menu has been completely redesigned, allowing players to purchase different types of weapons directly without having to navigate through the in-game menu. For example, players can switch from the M4A4 to the M4A1-S without leaving the buy menu. All weapon options are now available within the buy menu.
  • The addition of the ability to sell an item purchased accidentally during the freeze time (the first 15 seconds of the round when players are buying equipment and no one is rushing anywhere).
  • CS2 now features a revamped version of Mirage, which is already playable. To access it, players need to have access to the game's beta version. However, Dust 2 is undergoing further rework for the time being.
  • Now, when a player is boosted by three teammates, they will no longer slide on the model of the second player. Instead, they will stand steadily and be able to shoot without any hindrance.
  • Additionally, the sound of the FAMAS weapon for Counter-Terrorists (CT) has been changed.

Regarding smoke grenades:

  • Lighting/rendering has been improved when smoke covers multiple distinctly lit areas.
  • The duration of the fragmentation grenade's effect on smoke has been reduced.
  • Shotguns now create larger holes in the smoke.

Minor updates:

  • Developers have introduced the Counter-Strike 2 Workshop tools, which can be activated and accessed from the in-game settings menu. These tools allow community members to create new skins, stickers, and more. Note: Steam Community Workshop does not currently support CS2 map uploads.
  • Existing CS:GO items on the Steam Community Market can be checked in Counter-Strike 2.
  • VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) will now ban cheaters in real-time and gracefully end the match at the end of the round (unless it was the last round and the cheater lost). The match outcome will not affect the skill group of the participants. Players who were not in the lobby with a VAC-banned player will receive XP for the match.

It is worth noting that the full release of the game, according to the developers, is planned for this summer! Rumors from insiders suggest that the release may happen on July 25th.
