Valve replaced Mirage with Nuke in CS2, added a new game mode, and improved sound - update from June 30, 2023

The developers of Counter-Strike 2 have released a large 4GB patch, which added two maps (Nuke and Office), an additional game mode, grenade inspection animations, and various sound and movement improvements. Information about the update appeared in the official blog of the Valve shooter.

Gameplay

  • Added "Normal" game mode.

Shooting

  • Fixed rare cases when bullets did not follow the shooting pattern.

Maps

  • Nuke added to the “Deathmatch”, “Normal”, “Competitive” modes.
  • Office added to the “Deathmatch” and “Normal” modes.
  •  Mirage map has been removed.

Sound

  • Distance effects have been added for all positional sound sources.
  • 3D sound processing has been improved.
  • Mixing settings and general improvements have been added.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused sounds not to correspond to occlusion values of surrounding geometry, making sources seem closer than they actually were.
  • Fixed the absence of low frequencies at certain distances from sound sources, such as grenades and gunshots.
  • Fixed a bug that made some sounds slightly louder or quieter depending on the player's position.
  • Music cues added to loading and match acceptance screens.
  • Added a unique layer of sound occlusion to help with vertical sound positioning on Nuke.

Animations

  • Grenades can now be inspected.
  • Healing animation has been improved.
  • Inspection animations have been improved for various weapons.

Movement

  • Fixed instances of unintentional slow squatting/standing up.
  • Bunny hop should now feel roughly the same as in CS:GO at a tickrate of 128.
  • Added sv_jump_spam_penalty_time variable for precise bunny hop feeling tuning.
  • Improved readings in cl_showpos. It now shows the maximum speed for the last three seconds, this number is indicated in brackets in the “vel” line.
  • Players can no longer jump at the end of warm-up.

Network

  • Delta frame sending is now asynchronous, which reduces the load on the main core thread, and thus reduces the likelihood of a tickrate drop.
