Today it became known that Valve has blocked a popular map called de_voyna on the territory of the russian federation. This map depicted a small part of the military crimes committed by the russian army on Ukrainian territory.
About three weeks ago, we reported on an unusual initiative by a Finnish newspaper. They created a map in the popular video game Counter-Strike specifically designed for Russian players to change their worldview. However, it has now been revealed that access to this map has been blocked.
Specifically, russian IP addresses have been blocked by Valve, which means that players in Russia can no longer see or download the map from the game's workshop. It is currently unclear whether this decision was made by Valve independently or at the request of the Russian government.
Questions arise regarding the reasons for the blockage and the restrictions on access to information. Was this an independent decision by Valve or did they receive corresponding instructions from the Russian government? This remains unclear at the moment.
Recall that the largest Finnish newspaper, "Helsingin Sanomat," recently completed work on creating a map aimed at revealing the truth about the war in Ukraine to the Russian audience. For this purpose, they hired two cartography experts who developed a special map in the popular video game Counter-Strike.
Here are some screenshots from the map:
The map features a special underground room where the military crimes of the russian army on Ukrainian territory are depicted.
This situation highlights the difficulties faced by journalists and researchers trying to uncover the truth and provide information to the audience, especially when it is related to the war unleashed by russia against Ukraine.
The war has been ongoing for 461 days. For 461 days, the Ukrainian people have been defending their homeland against a full-scale invasion by the russian federation, paying the price of their sons' lives.
