This is not the first update to the VRS rules since the beginning of 2025, and recently there have been more major changes. As it became known, the new VRS rules now allow teams to belong to only one specific region.

What is known about the update

Recently, an update concerning the VRS model appeared on the official Counter-Strike Rules and Regs page on GitHub. The new rules stipulate that teams that previously belonged to multiple regions now belong to only one region.

The regional representation update ensures that teams appear in only one VRS list. In the event of a tie, the team is assigned to the stronger of the two regions.

In the past, if a team did not have a majority of three players from the same region, it could choose which region to represent. After the rule change, the team is automatically assigned to the stronger of the two regions. A striking example is Liquid, which has two players from the American region and two from the European region. After the rule change, it belongs to Europe.
