In an interview with HLTV, the player mentioned that FaZe leadership didn't communicate with him for an extended period. Unlike other clubs, which begin contract renewal negotiations several months before their expiration, the Canadian's former organization waited until the last moment.
"My negotiations with FaZe started just weeks before my contract was about to end. For about a month, there was no contact with them, and after two weeks, I told FaZe: 'Listen, I have offers from other teams. I need to know what your plans for the future are – am I still with you or not?' By the time I got an answer, I was already seriously negotiating with Vitality and Liquid,"Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken.
Twistzz also confirmed that he was in talks with Vitality, but internal team roles did not align, as Magisk was primarily a support player, and Russell no longer was.
"At the end of negotiations about Vitality, apEX said they would change positions for me, but I'm not trying to go somewhere where I'll disrupt the system and move people around, because then, if it doesn't work out, in my opinion, it would be an even bigger failure. But it could have been a very interesting project. I really like flameZ, I think he's a very funny, innocent guy, and it would have been great to play with him. But the roles just didn't fit,"Russel"Twistzz" Van Dulken stated.
Twistzz officially moved to Liquid on December 7. Before this, he was part of FaZe for nearly three years, winning numerous prestigious championships, including his second Intel Grand Slam in his career. The next tournament featuring "the horses" will take place on January 12-14 at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: North American Qualifier.
