The Tournament Operator Answered Sdy About Cheaters on the Event

The European Pro League tournament operator made an official statement.

The European Pro League tournament operator responded to Monte's player Viktor sdy Orudjev.

Yesterday, after winning the European Pro League Season 6 grand final, sdy published a statement that the opponents in the grand final were cheaters and later even posted a video with evidence. However, the main claim of the player was directed toward the tournament operator, who invited this team to the event.

Even after studying Paloma's games, do you have any proof that they are cheaters? Unfortunately, at the moment, we have no right to take measures against them since there is no direct evidence of their foul play.

What started the scandal?

The scandal with the Paloma team began precisely with the post of sdy, which openly stated that the team uses cheats. However, even before that, Paloma looked like a suspicious team playing under the Permitta tag.

The most suspicious thing was that at all the events of tier-4 and tier-3, Permitta beat any opponents, but as soon as they reached the more or less large stages, they were immediately eliminated. This happened at IEM Katowice 2023 and at the open qualifiers for the major, which already says a lot.

But after the accusation from sdy, the situation became louder. After the publication of the extremely suspicious clip, most of the community was convinced that Paloma/Permitta were cheaters. However, what could the tournament operator do without direct evidence?

What is the fault of the tournament operator?

Yes, you should not make the team an outcast just because many people suspect it of cheating. According to this principle, Jesper JW Veksel would stop participating in CS:GO tournaments. However, there is one small problem that concerns maintenance.

The European Pro League is an online tournament, so teams play it from their homes or boot camps. But at the same time, there was no anti-cheat on it. So after this application, the European Pro League becomes very strange: you need physical evidence, but you don't use an anti-cheat that could provide it.

The decision of the TO not to punish Paloma because of rumors is correct. Punishing the team because of rumors is impossible, but they need to start using anti-cheat at their events.

How can the situation turn out?

At the moment, no official measures have been taken against Paloma. Everything depends on whether the TO will invite the Polish team to the tournaments. If they do, it is necessary to follow them very carefully, which will most likely be done by the tournament operators.
