We continue to summarize the results of 2022. This time, Cover.gg compiled the top five players with the AK-47 of the past year. One of the few top lists where Nikola NiKo Kovacs took first place.
When compiling the top, we focused on the performance of athletes exclusively in tier-1 championships and with AK-47: at least 80 matches played in tier-1 competitions, the average number of kills and the average amount of damage per round with AK-47. We presented the top 20 esports athletes in CS:GO of 2022. You can read more about it here.
#5. Kaike KSCERATO Cerato
The composition of FURIA Esports can be called the breakthrough of 2022, and KSCERATO was one of the primary keys to success. The Brazilian team took 3-4 places at ESL Pro League Season 15 and IEM Dallas 2022, as well as at home at IEM Rio Major 2022.
Throughout the year, Cerato stood out against his teammates and the pro scene as a whole. The Brazilian athlete averaged 32.34 damage and 0.308 kills per round with the AK-47. Can FURIA continue in the same vein? We will see further.
#4. Abay Hobbit Khasenov
The Cloud9 rifler spent the first half of 2022 ambiguously, and there were rumors on the Internet about the possible exclusion of Hobbit. However, in the second half of the year, the Kazakh esports athlete was able to pull himself together and show excellent performance. As a result, the team won the trophy at IEM Dallas 2022.
Over the past 12 months, Hasenov has great statistics: 32.9 average damage and 0.308 average kills per round with the AK-47. Hobbit is already quite an old player, but he is still ready to perform and demonstrate the game's highest level.
#3. Mareks YEKINDAR Galinskis
Many were surprised by the kick of YEKINDAR from Outsiders. Perhaps the athlete decided to leave due to political motives... But now, it is possible to say confidently that the Latvian professional CS:GO player did not lose.
After moving to Team Liquid, he became a real leader in the team, gave the roster the necessary amount of aggression, and the results went up. The second place in ESL Pro League Season 16 and BLAST Premier: World Final 2022, as well as the 3-4 position in BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022: all this happened after the arrival of Galinskis. He has 35.71 average damage and 0.341 average kills per round with the AK-47. Further communication in the team will continue to grow, and they may be able to raise the level of North American CS.
#2. Sergey Ax1Le Rykhtorov
Another representative of Cloud9 Ax1Le took second place in our top. Rykhtorov is the only team member who was not questioned throughout the year. There was only one opinion about him on the web: "Ax1Le should definitely stay."
Therefore, the evidence is his individual indicators: 35.83 average damage and 0.348 average kills per round with the AK-47. Not bad, right? Rykhtorov also became the MVP at IEM Dallas 2022, where C9 became the champion. They won't slow down. Next year, everyone will expect an even better performance from him.
#1. Nikola NiKo Kovac
Finally, we got to the best esports athlete with an AK-47: NiKo. The Bosnian professional CS:GO player has been among the best representatives of the scene for many years, but the team's bad results also affect Kovac. G2 Esports positions itself as a team ready to fight for trophies, but this is different. The championship at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 was the first in a long time.
If you look at NiKo's individual statistics, he surpassed the previous member of our top only in terms of average damage per round — 36.15. The other indicators of the Bosnian are as similar as possible to Ax1Le. Fans of Kovach and G2 are full of hope that the team, having tasted victory at a Major tournament, will start writing a new history for the club.
The AK-47 is rightfully considered one of the best weapons in CS:GO, and shooter fans, for the most part, prefer it. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is also in high demand among professional players. Becoming top-1 in the game with AK-47 is another challenge because the competition is very strong.
