Cover.gg introducing to you the top 20 best professional players in CS:GO of 2022. Oleksandr s1mple Kostyliev took first place in the following top and proved once again that he is one of the best on the pro scene.
When compiling the list of the top 20 CS:GO players in 2022, we analyzed the statistics of more than a hundred esports athletes who played many matches exclusively in tier-1 competitions. We considered the player's rating, the average values of KDR, DPR, and ADR, individual values (MVP and EVP), and prize places at tournaments. For each indicator, players were awarded points. The sum of the points affected the final position in the rating.
About the Cover.gg Rating
Assessing a player in a CS:GO match is a challenging task. Each game consists of at least 16 rounds, each unique in many parameters, for example, whether a bomb was planted or which team made an open kill. Therefore, the best solution is to calculate the player's rating in each round and get a total score for the map.
We are confident that bo3.gg has the most accurate rating that allows you to quickly and conveniently assess the results of each player in each round, map, and match. At the same time, for the first time in the history of CS:GO, the rating takes into account such indicators as the party, the economy, and many other factors that previously remained in the shadows.
It's much easier to understand by the average fan. The best score is 10 points.

#16 Benjamin blameF Bremer — Rating 6.7
Astralis was very stormy all year: the club had to make substitutions due to the k0nfig's fight, passed the RMR with great difficulty, and even in the tier-2 championships, they did not get success. The only bastion of stability in the ocean of darkness, in which the Danish team has been for the third year, was blameF.
His unusually high rating deserves special praise. BlameF rating is 6.7, which is good for such a team. Higher stats have only s1mple, ZywOo, and sh1ro. With the device's arrival, he can reveal himself in a new way in 2023. One can even express cautious optimism about Astralis for the upcoming season.

#13 Mareks YEKINDAR Galinskys — Rating 6,3
YEKINDAR became a great addition to the Team Liquid lineup as a new and the best in the world open fragger. This is primarily shown by his statistics of the first murders, where he is the leader. For this reason, according to our version, he also entered the dream team of the year.
Unfortunately, this was insufficient for Mareks to break into the top 10. Two EVPs and three second and third places in tournaments with a rating of 6.3 is a weak argument in favor of being in the top ten players of the year. However, 2023 looks promising for YEKINDAR, especially if the composition of the American club is strengthened in some way.
Tournaments’ results:
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022 — 3 place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 — 2 place
#12 Denis electroNic Sharipov — Rating 6,1
It is necessary to give credit to Denis for being fearless in taking on the captain's responsibilities. Still, the lack of experience of the in-game leader affects the personal statistics of the esports athlete, taking him away from the opportunity to expand the exceedingly modest collection of MVP medals. This also brought discord to the team's performance, reflected in the results at the championships. It was possible to win the trophy only at BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022. The final individual rating of electroNic is 6.2: not excellent, not terrible.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Katowice 2022 — 3 place
- PGL Major Antwerp 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 — 1 place
- IEM Cologne 2022 — 2 place
#11 Dmitriy sh1ro Sokolov — Rating 6,7
Sh1ro continues to be the main star of Cloud9, but one thing is to stand out within his team, and the other is to stand out among the best players in the world. Unfortunately, over the past year, Sokolov received the MVP title only once in the 2nd round of the Funspark ULTI 2021 tournament.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Dallas 2022 — 1 place
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 3 place
Twistzz, huNter-, and stavn open the list of top ten esports atheltes of 2022. All three players represent different teams, but the general picture of their performance is very similar. They have the closest final scores after many hours of counting.
#10 Russel Twistzz Van Dulken — Rating 6,3

#7 Ilya m0NESY Osipov — Rating 6,5
M0NESY was named the Rookie of the Year by the Esports Awards for a reason. The NAVI Junior student just started his journey on the tier-1 stage and has already earned the attention of professional CS:GO fans. His clutches 1v4 against MIBR and Vitality are top-notch!
Towards the end of the year, he not only won the first Major tournament, BLAST Premier World Final 2022 but also became the MVP. Ilya's debut year can be called good but not flawless in personal performance. The rating of 6.5, even if it is impressive for his young age, did not immediately become a legend in a few months, and there is still room for growth. On the other hand, entering the CS:GO Hall of Fame is achievable if Osipov continues to enhance his skills.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Katowice 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 — 3 place
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 3 place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 — 1 place
#6 Havard rain Nygaard — Rating 6,3
Rain, the oldest esports athlete on this list, still has his rush week shoot glasses. Yes, more than the individual level of 2017 was needed. Still, at that time, FaZe could not become the champions of the Major, unfortunately losing to Cloud9. But the tragedy didn't repeat in Antwerp. On the contrary, rain entered the prestigious circle of Major winners and became the MVP of the tournament. These achievements allow you to turn a blind eye to a relatively modest rating of 6.2 and put rain in the 6th place at our top.
Tournaments’ results:
- ESL Pro League Season 15 — 1 place
- PGL Major Antwerp 2022 — 1 place
- IEM Cologne 2022 — 1 place
- BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 — 3 place
#5 Sergey Ax1Le Rykhtorov — Rating 6,6
After moving to Cloud9, rifler Ax1le failed to repeat his success of 2020-2021. Rumors even began to circulate about a replacement in the roster. Nevertheless, he and sh1ro had the fewest questions. And Sergey stood head and shoulders above everyone at IEM Dallas 2022. So it is not surprising that he then won the third MVP title in his career.
At the beginning of the year, there was also a victory in the 2nd round of the Funspark ULTI 2021 tournament. Still, Gambit/Cloud9 showed a lackluster performance, especially at the Major in Antwerp. As a result, the individual rating for 2022 of the Russian cyber sportsman was 6.6.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Dallas 2022 — 1 place
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 3 place
#4 Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut — Rating 6,8
Only some things went so smoothly for ZywOo this year. He almost uncompromisingly looked the best in 2019, similarly in 2020. Then there was NAVI with modest results from Vitality, and 2022 also turned out to be very average. It is possible to get the highest rating of 6.8. But more than this rating and a single MVP title is needed to become the best this year. It is not possible to leave one individual rating. So, he got only the fourth position at the top.
Tournaments’ results:
- BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 — 2 place
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 1 place
#3 Helvijs broky Saukants — Rating 6,4
Broky, a 21-year-old Latvian athlete who was not particularly outstanding before, spent the best part of his career for FaZe in the year's first half. This is expressed in four championships and personal achievements in the form of two MVP medals: the same number as the first place at our top.
On the other hand, the rating of 6.5 could be more impressive: it was barely enough to squeeze into the top ten players by this indicator in the last 12 months. But, on the other hand, it confirms how good FaZe was as a team and that the team didn't have to rely on a superstar of the ZywOo's or s1mple's caliber.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Katowice 2022 — 1 place
- ESL Pro League Season 15 — 1 place
- PGL Major Antwerp 2022 — 1 place
- IEM Cologne 2022 — 1 place
- BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 — 3 place
#2 Nikola NiKo Kovač — Rating 6,6
One of the strongest riflers in the world climbed to second place at the top, and remarkably, the MVP was not added to him this year. On the other hand, there are as many as five distinctions of a precious player (EVP).
In the media, all the laurels went mainly to m0NESY. If you do not consider the memes about HooXi-gigachad. Kovač was a simple workhorse. However, the championship title of the last Major tournament of the year, namely BLAST Premier World Finals, was won by G2. For NiKo, this trophy was the first among the big events since the end of 2018. In addition, we have a single second and two third places and an impressive rating of 6.7.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Katowice 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 — 3 place
- ESL Pro League Season 16 — 3 place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 — 1 place
#1. Olexander s1mple Kostyliev — Rating 6,7
This year for s1mple was less successful than 2021. The Ukrainian cyber sportsman lost in the individual plan, and Natus Vincere's team results deteriorated. First, the war, then there were changes in the composition and the post of captain. As a result, coherence in team actions has faltered. At the end of the year, NAVI tried to play with the representative of the club's academy, Andrey npl Kuharsky.
This year, Kostyliev had to be satisfied with only two medals for the best player of the tournament, compared to 7 in the past, which he received for his performance at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2022 and IEM Cologne 2022. In total, s1mple took place in the top 3 of Major tournaments four times.
Of course, it is impossible not to note the rating of 6.8. In 2022, only three athletes could reach it, including s1mple himself. However, it was enough to get the title of the year's best player.
Tournaments’ results:
- IEM Katowice 2022 — 3 place
- PGL Major Antwerp 2022 — 2 place
- BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 — 1 place
- IEM Cologne 2022 — 2 place
