"This was a typical snowball" - Interview with LMBT after Monte's qualification for the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 playoffs

Today at the BLAST Paris Major 2023, Monte achieved a milestone, at the beginning of the year, they couldn't even dream of qualifying for the Major playoffs. Only the best of the best make it to this stage in the most prestigious CS:GO tournament. On this occasion, Cover.gg managed to get an exclusive comment from Monte's coach, Sergey LMBT Bezhanov, who was forced to stay in Ukraine due to travel restrictions during the state of war.

It turns out that Monte didn't undergo any deep and thorough preparation before the match against NAVI in the 2-1 series. Bejanov had an idea of the selected maps, so he decided to rely on the experience from CCT tournaments.

This was the first match we didn't prepare for. We knew the vetoes and decided that the game plan would be the same as in the CCT match. After the vetoes, I wrote about the pistol rounds in the Telegram group, and that was it

The overwhelming scoreline on the second map, Nuke, was a big surprise for fans of both teams. A 2-16 score is not the result you expect on your own map pick. LMBT explains that his players gained momentum after winning a force-buy round following a 5-2 loss in the pistol round.

We got a groove from winning the force-buy after losing the 5v2 pistol round. It was a typical snowball, just like in the match against PaiN

The coach asserts that Monte has already achieved their goal. Even if we recall the words of manager KrizzeN from January this year, the team now only needs to secure high placements in future Tier-1 LAN events.

The goal has long been achieved, but now it's just step by step. Starting from the RMR, we relaxed when we played against PaiN and were one map away from being eliminated in the Challenger stage.

When asked about working with the roster remotely, Sergey explained that communication happens in a casual manner. Before each match, they analyze what might be lacking to secure a victory in that particular encounter.

We simply gather in TeamSpeak and have heartfelt conversations without getting into overly complicated details. We decide what we need to do to win the match tomorrow. We focus on which aspect we need to add to come out on top, that's it.

DemQQ's shouts after a certain moment in the Major seemed to charge the team with confidence and courage. LMBT clarified that it was Demchenko's personal choice, and in his opinion, it has a positive impact on the game.

So, when DemQQ asked if he should do it, my answer was very simple - if you feel that it helps the team, then yes.

While waiting for the first opponent in the playoffs, Monte's plans are quite simple. It should be noted that the seedings for the final stage of the tournament will be known tomorrow, on May 16, in the evening, after the conclusion of the Legends stage. The plan from the first match remains unchanged - to enjoy the journey.

Remember that the BLAST Paris Major 2023 playoffs will begin on May 19 - that's when Monte's fans will be able to watch their games at the Accor Arena. But first, we have the final round in the Legends stage tomorrow. Detailed statistics and the event schedule are available on the championship's page.
