The MongolZ Are Confidently Advancing to the LAN Finals of the Thunderpick World Championship

The second day of the online stage of the Thunderpick World Championship concluded triumphantly for The MongolZ, clinching their spot in the Play-in stage. They are now just one best-of-three series away from participating in the LAN finals with a prize pool of $770,000, which will take place in Germany.

Interest in The MongolZ's performance is fueled not only by their current success but also by their recent performance at the Elisa Masters Espoo, where the team secured 3rd-4th place, falling to future champions, ENCE. In the context of the Thunderpick World Championship, Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren's team demonstrated consistent play, securing 2-0 victories over Cloud9 and fnatic, confidently earning the top spot in Group B.

Match Details and Team Results

The MongolZ showcased strong performance, clinching three consecutive wins with scores of 13-11, and then concluded the Dust2 map against fnatic on a high note, winning 13-7. These results solidified their tournament position and brought them closer to the final stage.

The 9z team, which previously surprised at IEM Dallas, once again faced challenges against top teams. After losses to fnatic and Cloud9, they were eliminated from the group, finishing in last place.

Cloud9's Issues and Expert Comments

Team Cloud9, despite its lineup with new players like Kaisar "ICY" Faiznurov and Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko, delivered mixed results. Their play showed moments of instability, which, according to their coach Konstantin "groove" Pikiner, is attributed to a lack of official matches in September and October.

Boombl4 also experienced emotional swings when his team nearly squandered a massive 10-2 lead in the game against 9z on the Mirage map, which could have changed the match outcome.

Decisive Moments

Cloud9 and fnatic face a decisive match for advancing from the group, which will take place on Friday. Fnatic last defeated Cloud9 in the closed qualifiers for IEM Rio two months ago, and the upcoming encounter will be a significant test for both teams.
