G2 Esports' Counter-Strike 2 roster manager has received a VAC ban

On December 5, 2023, Petar peca Markovic, the general manager of the Counter-Strike 2 team at G2 Esports, received a VAC ban on his account. He reported this on his official Twitter account.

At the time of the ban, the total time spent on his account in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2 was hidden. However, his inventory is valued at $3,100, and his account is already 11.7 years old.

Throughout December 5, the VAC system started blocking player accounts without explanation. Hundreds of users lost access to their valuable inventories, worth tens of thousands of dollars. It appears that the latest update from Valve caused a malfunction in the VAC system, resulting in random players being banned without any basis. Over two thousand accounts have been blocked so far.

An interesting detail is that blocked users can still transfer skins from their inventory. This is unusual, as VAC previously also applied bans to skins.

Here's how peca reacted to the situation:

Hi dear CounterStrike.I rarely play Premier with my friends, but I did grind some solo Premier last night from our G2 Offices. And yes, I did experience one random guy turning on Aimbot last night, who I reported. Why did I get banned? I get 10-15 frags per map at best
I don't have any other Steam accounts other than the one I last time logged in before 2007, for which I can't remember the login info.
I've never used any 3rd party software.
