In his latest interview, the director of the North American organization Complexity Gaming spoke about the buyout price of sniper Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut, as well as nostalgically reminiscing about the bright times of the organization.
Jason Lake talked about how in 2019 he tried to buy sniper Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut from Team Vitality. Jason Lake was interested in buying ZywOo, but it became clear that he better not even find out the player's price.
In 2019, he asked about ZywOo's contract, but the French assured him that it's better not to know this number:
In the fall [of 2019], I asked Vitality about the price of ZywOo, but we just laughed at this intention and decided that I better not know these figures
The owner of Complexity nostalgically thinks about the roster that should have become the best in the world:
We were at the StarLadder major in Berlin. When we lost, I was very angry. Before the tournament, we trained a lot and spent a lot of time, and it didn't pay off.I wanted to have the best team in the world. I wanted to shut everyone up. Eventually, I went to the management and said that I wanted to build a roster that would win many tournaments and become the best in the world. And I was able to do it. We had such a team until the spring of 2020, all the players were at the peak of their capabilities. The chemistry between the members of the roster was at an incredible level. We should have become the best.
Then COVID-19 happened, and we had a Bulgarian and a little guy from Nebraska. We did everything in our power to keep the roster. Players lived in hotels for months. In the end, poor ovo and RUSH left the roster. To give you an idea, they flew to boot camps on a private jet.
Juggernaut is my biggest disappointment in esports in the last 10 years. The reason for its creation is to please myself, our fans, and partners, while simultaneously shutting everyone up by becoming the best in the world. But all this is history, many in those years lost more than just a CS:GO roster
At that time, Complexity Gaming was the fifth team in the world, but at the same time, oBo decided to leave the roster for personal reasons.
And at the very end, he also said that the current captain of the team Natus Vincere, Aleksib, was also supposed to become part of the organization:
We thought a lot about Aleksib, we wanted to take him for the IGL position. In this case, blameF would have been a rifler. It was obvious from Alexi that he doubted this decision. After one of his messages, I just went to the managers and said: "Damn, this guy is hesitating and will most likely accept another offer." I asked them to buy me a ticket to Helsinki, took my car home, and went to the airport. I did everything in my power to make Aleksib our captain. But I couldn't persuade him. After that, I flew to Europe again, this time to persuade blameF. When I told him that I would be with him tomorrow, his reaction was like "wtf, are you crazy?". Eventually, we met at the hotel. After a couple of hours of negotiations, he finally agreed.
At the moment, the Complexity Gaming team is in first place in the Valve ranking in the American region. Their next tournament will be BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023. Their first opponent at the championship will be the guys from Astralis.
BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023 will take place from November 22 to 26 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The championship will be held at the Royal Arena.
