Damien "daps" Steel, captain of NRG and former coach of Liquid, made a candid confession about the internal affairs of the Liquid team. He talked about the departure of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski from the team and the unsuccessful attempt to involve Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan.
According to daps, the team initially planned to confirm a lineup with KSCERATO and flameZ, but both players declined. This led to a situation where not all team members wanted to continue playing with EliGE, and even EliGE himself felt it was better to leave.
daps noted that EliGE was ready to change his roles in the team, but this would not match his playing style. As a result, EliGE decided to move to Complexity, where he regained his form, helping the team reach the finals of IEM Sydney 2023 and the semi-finals of BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023.
The original roster that we had decided on was KSCERATO, and he turned us down back then and he turned them down again this time, and then flameZ we were very close to getting. It was flameZ going to us or Vitality. The original proposed lineup was KSCERATO and flameZ.
When that didn't work out, we had the option to keep EliGE, but not every player wanted to continue playing with EliGE, and I think also EliGE felt sorta the same about staying. I remember talking to him and he even offered to play anchor spots and completely change his roles, but I told him, to be honest, I don't think that's best for him.
Currently, Liquid has refreshed and looks like this:
