Wildcard, led by NA scene veteran Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, is considered one of the most promising teams in North America. Thanks to European players susp and phzy, the team has gained new momentum and stability, making them potential contenders for the top of the scene. Throughout 2025, Wildcard experienced both highs and lows: from victory in the Frost & Fire online tournament to painful defeats at big LAN events in Katowice and Bucharest.
With the BLAST.tv Austin Major approaching, which will be held in Texas, where the organization is based, stanislaw is optimistic and aims to reach the playoffs. Ahead of the tournament, BLAST.tv spoke with the player about the team's year in review, the difficult period of working with Stewie2k, the problems of the NA scene, the development of young talent JBa, and expectations for the home Major, particularly the first match against Metizport.
Stanislaw spoke in detail about how the team spent 2025, emphasizing that the beginning was promising, but subsequent failures became a serious test for Wildcard. The victory in the Frost & Fire online tournament gave the team confidence, but at major LAN events in Katowice and Bucharest, they were unable to realize their potential, losing at crucial moments.
The year started off a lot better than it currently is. We got a win in the Frost & Fire tournament online, and I thought we were progressing wellPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
In our two biggest tournaments in Katowice and Bucharest, we were very close to achieving our goals, but we came short by just a few roundsPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
Since the modern CS scene is mainly concentrated in Europe, Wildcard spent a significant part of the year abroad, based in Poland, where their headquarters are located. Stanislaw explained how the team adapted to this schedule in order to get better practice against European opponents, although this comes with certain difficulties.
In regards to our team, we've spent more time in the EU, so we've just had to adapt to the current landscape of CSPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
But, if you want to make it in this industry and you want to make it far, you're going to have to figure out how to spend a lot of time in Europe and get the best practice you canPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
As one of the most experienced players on the NA scene, stanislaw sees his role as passing on his knowledge to the younger generation, but notes that modern players have their own peculiarities in perceiving information. He compared the approaches to training in his day and now, when playbooks and theory play a much greater role.
It's very important for people in our position to be able to pass down our knowledge and experience, but also, one thing that I've realized which has been difficult is finding players, especially in NA, that are eager and humble enough to learnPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
I also don't know what it is, maybe it's the TikTok generation, but I feel like the learning curve is a lot smaller with the new generationPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
One of Wildcard's promising players is JBa, who is performing well online, but his performance in LAN tournaments is still falling short. Stanislaw gave a positive assessment of the young talent's development, but stressed that stability requires time and team cohesion.
I'm not really concerned, I think he's developing really well and it's just going to take more timePeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
The short period of cooperation with Stewie2k was a real test for Wildcard. Stanislaw admitted that this experience had a negative impact on the team, forcing them to start all over again after an unsuccessful experiment.
Oh yeah, that was a nightmare. It definitely did put a bump in the road, though, we had to start overPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
For Stanislaw, the home Major in Texas has special significance, as Wildcard is based there. The player is hoping for the support of the local crowd, which could be an additional source of motivation for the team.
I'm very excited, I'm hoping that the crowd is on our side, us being based out of Texas as Wildcard is going to be very excitingPeter "stanislaw" Jarguz
The first match at BLAST.tv Austin Major against Metizport is of particular importance to Wildcard. Stanislaw said that the team is determined and added a personal motive related to susp.
I'm feeling good, susp's twin brother is on the team, so we're going to take them down for him.Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
