Stage 1 of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 impacts VRS rankings

One of the users, X, published a detailed analysis of the changes in the VRS system after the first stage of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. The updated table showed how significantly the 33 matches played affected the standings of dozens of teams.

Most points were awarded for the win rate on LAN, as the stage took place without a prize pool. The VRS system automatically recalculates the values of all past matches after each new result.

This caused sharp rises and falls in the Head-to-Head column: the higher a team's initial rating, the less weight its previous victories have. The recalculation also affected teams that did not play in the tournament. Their positions decreased by 5–17 points due to the database update.

Even without active participation in the tournament, teams lose points — this is how the dynamic ranking mechanism works. The final table after Stage 1 now more accurately reflects the teams' form. Some participants gained up to 90 points, while others lost more than 50.

The BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 takes place from June 3 to 22 in Austin, USA, with a prize pool of $1,250,000. You can follow the news, schedule, and results of the tournament at this link.
