Sonic retires

South African CS players rarely appear on the pro scene, and today we lost one of the most popular riflers from the African regions.

Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek announced his retirement finishing his 8-year-long career. He hanged up his mouse after the most successful stint in his career being the part of Extra Salt. Sonic brought Extra Salt to the top of the American scene but was benched in October 2022 due to failing to qualify for ESL Pro League Season 15. On his last days in Extra Salt, he didn’t manage to show a high level of performance.

However, Sonic still had a bright career also appearing in Cloud9 and Bravado rosters, putting the South African scene on the map.
