Global gaming industry giant Epic Games is set to team up with South Korean football icon Son Heung-min in one of the upcoming collaborations aimed at revitalizing Fortnite's popularity in the Korean market. This was announced during an Epic Games Korea press conference at the Andaz Hotel in the Gangnam district of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News, a special Fortnite bundle dedicated to the "Tottenham Hotspur" captain will be released on June 21, 2025. The set will include a Son Heung-min skin, his signature "Snapshot" emote (based on his famous goal celebrations), and other themed items.
Despite Fortnite having over 500 million users worldwide, player interest in South Korea remains low. Epic Games Korea's CEO, Park Seong-chul, acknowledged the challenges during the event, describing Fortnite as a "sore thumb" in the Korean market. He emphasized the company's new approach, which involves integrating elements of Korean culture, including K-pop and football, to boost local interest.
This marks Son Heung-min's second appearance in a major video game collaboration—he was featured in PUBG: Battlegrounds in 2021. However, this will be his first experience in the world of Fortnite, known for its high-profile collaborations with athletes, artists, and pop culture stars.
The collaboration with Son Heung-min is part of a broader cultural strategy by Epic Games Korea. The company also announced new in-game content featuring music from HYBE artists such as Jungkook and Jimin from BTS, as well as ENHYPEN and ILLIT. Additionally, themed content inspired by Squid Game and a new first-person mode, Fortnite Ballistic, are in the works.
Despite the high-profile presentation, Epic Games has not yet officially confirmed whether the Son Heung-min bundle will be available worldwide or only in South Korea. If access is limited, it could disappoint the international Fortnite audience, given the footballer's global popularity.
