On the night of August 16, the development team released a global update for Counter-Strike 2. With the new update, Valve changed the mechanics of the smoke grenade and added a new map, as well as a number of other smaller changes.
Most importantly
MAPS
- Added Italy to "Normal Mode" and "Fight to the Death "
- Anubis and Ancient removed
GAMEPLAY
- "Competition Mode" is currently disabled
- Significant changes to smoke cloud shape
MISCELLANEOUS
- CS 2 M4A4 sticker sizes have been adjusted so that they no longer overlap
- Updated hostage models
- The StatTrak position on both M4 models has been changed so that stickers no longer overlap
What did the data miners find?
Of course we will see the main fruits of data-miner work already this week, when all the new lines of code will be analyzed, but at the time of publication it is already known (all changes concern the Premier mode):
- Cannot start a competition because 4-person lobbies are not allowed in this mode
- In Premier, your CS ranking is used to find matches that match your skill
- Small changes to the Premier match selection interface. It seems to be still being prepared!
Also localization for some countries and currency rates for in-game purchases have been changed!
All in all, the update weighs in at over 3GB, specifically 3.8GB.
In fact, more and more I believe that the developers will not have time to release the game as they promised "This summer", because most of the maps from the modern map pool are not finished yet or we just haven't seen them yet. But whatever it is, the developers are trying, and that's the main thing!
