During the ongoing women's global tournament, the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2024, Shopify Rebellion player meL took to social media to speak out about gender identity.
In her post, meL expressed gratitude for the support she has received from fans but noted that some members of the community are attempting to impose their views on gender issues. According to her, competitive events should not serve as platforms for promoting personal ideologies.

In response, organizers have restricted chat functions on official broadcasts: YouTube chats are disabled, while Twitch chats are limited to emoji-only.
