FaZe player Robin "ropz" Kool shared his impressions of playing in front of the Australian audience in an interview with ESL after winning the Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023.

The Estonian noted that the audience in Australia is active and epic, and it does not depend on whether a local team is playing on the stage. Ropz also said that the Australians as an audience deserve their own major the most.

If there’s a priority on which crowd you want to give a Major to, this is number one. This crowd is absolutely epic, it has its own thing going on all of the time. It’s a great crowd and everyone is here even if there’s no home favorite.

The Australian audience has been memorable at every major Counter-Strike tournament, including smaller events like the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2023. However, the time zone makes the tournament inconvenient to watch for most fans from other regions.

Out of the 20 announced Counter-Strike majors, only four were held outside of Europe: Columbus, Atlanta (twice), and Rio de Janeiro. The next major tournament in the Asian region will be CS2 Asia Championships 2023 with a prize pool of $500,000.
