The group stage of the YaLLa Compass 2024 LAN tournament, held in Abu Dhabi from June 4 to 9 with a prize pool of $400,000, has concluded.
The group stage was intense, with teams split into groups of six, each playing every other team. As a result, 14 matches in a BO1 format were played on the first day, and the second day was even more packed with 16 matches, also in BO1 format. By the end of the two days, The MongolZ, NIP, and Astralis advanced to the playoffs. From Group B, FURIA Esports, BetBoom, and Fnatic moved forward.
The playoffs will start tomorrow, where BetBoom will face Astralis in the first quarterfinal, and NIP will play against Fnatic in the second quarterfinal. The MongolZ and FURIA Esports will start their run in the semifinals. The best player of the group stage was KSCERATO with a rating of 7.8, which likely contributed to FURIA's first place in Group B.
Surprisingly, Eternal Fire and ENCE were eliminated from the tournament in last place, and it was an especially disappointing first LAN tournament for sdy in the new lineup, with sdy finishing the tournament with a rating of 6.0. Meanwhile, r1nkle with the revamped NIP lineup exceeded all expectations and advanced to the playoffs, with a group stage rating of 7.3.
