PGL officially announced the dates of qualifiers for PGL Bucharest 2025

PGL has officially announced the start of qualifiers for PGL Bucharest 2025 a grand Counter-Strike 2 tournament that will take place in the Romanian capital from April 6 to 13, 2025. This event is part of the Tier-1 series of competitions that continue to set new standards for the esports scene.

The tournament is marked by an impressive prize pool of $1,250,000, which will be distributed among the 16 teams that will make it to the final stage. The road to PGL Bucharest 2025 will begin in February with open qualifiers covering different regions of the world.

Format and structure of the tournament

The tournament consists of two key stages - group and playoffs. The group stage uses the Swiss system, which guarantees at least three matches for each team. The playoffs will be held in the Single-Elimination format, where each match will be decisive for further participation. The final of the tournament will be held in Bo5 format.

Schedule of open qualifiers

The first stage of the qualifiers will begin on February 14, 2025. Each region will host four rounds of open qualifiers, which gives teams several chances to get to the next stage. The regions include:

  • Oceania (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)
  • Asia (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)
  • MENA - Middle East and North Africa (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)
  • Europe (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)
  • South America (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)
  • North America (February 14-15, February 16-17, February 20-21, February 22-23)

Each round will last two days, allowing the teams to prepare for the next matches.

Closed qualifiers

Teams that pass the first stage will be eligible for the closed qualifiers. They will be held from late February to early March. For the Asian region, the second round of closed qualifiers will take place in LAN format in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia:

Europe, North America, South America:

  • Closed qualifications Round 1: February 28 - March 3
  • Closed qualifications Round 2: March 7-8

Asia:

  • Closed qualifications Round 1: February 24-27
  • Closed qualifications Round 2 (LAN): March 6-9
