Today it became known that there will be changes in the participating teams at the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024 championship. Specifically, the Russian organization BetBoom will miss the championship, and the French team 3DMAX will take their place.
Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024 will be the second tournament of the IEM series in 2024. The championship will feature the top 24 teams in the world, but without BetBoom. They received a direct invite to this championship due to their high ranking in the ESL world's best teams list.
The exact reason for this decision is still unknown. However, it is most likely due to the new German legislation that further complicates the entry of citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus into the country.
