Liquid’s campaign at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 ended in bitter disappointment. After a 0-3 record and a nail-biting series against MOUZ, the team exits the tournament winless. In a interview with BLAST, NAF opened up about the team’s poor start, the challenge of integrating a new IGL, and the mental toll of their intense bootcamp — all while facing uncertainty about his own future with the roster.
Liquid looked flat in their opening games but nearly pulled off a miracle in their final series. Still, it wasn’t enough.
Honestly, it sucks. I think the first two games we played were not what we wanted to show, and then we started to perform better against MOUZ, and we almost had it, but it just slipped away.
Bringing in a new IGL shortly before a Major is always risky — and NAF knows it.
Of course, when you bring in an IGL it takes more time to change things than just swapping out a regular player, so it will take time, but the expectations were higher at this event.
While siuhy is now a permanent part of Liquid, NAF’s own role in the project remains uncertain.
Honestly, I'm not sure, because I honestly don't know if I'll be on the team after this event. To me, it doesn't really matter right now. We'll just have to wait and see.
An intense pre-tournament grind may have done more harm than good.
Just long hours, playing, travelling — we were trying to cover as much as we can in the time we had and do a bunch of things as much as possible. Maybe it was a little too much, but at the end of the day we tried our best and it's all just about how we performed at the event and how we feel here, unfortunately, it just wasn't our time here.
