Today at 15:15 EEST, the final of the CS Asia Championships 2023 between MOUZ and FaZe will begin. This is already the fourth meeting between these teams in Counter-Strike 2.
In the semifinals, MOUZ defeated Astralis, while FaZe beat ENCE. Both matches ended with scores of 2:1. In the first semifinal, despite all three maps, there wasn't much intrigue: Astralis won MOUZ's pick, but on the third map Vertigo, they were losing with a score of 12:0. Indeed, the Danes tried to make a comeback, but the decider still ended at 13:7.
The second semifinal was much closer and more intriguing. The initiative shifted from one team to another: 8:13, 16:14, and 13:11. ENCE had a serious advantage on the third map but lost with a score of 10:4.
In Counter-Strike 2, FaZe and MOUZ have already met three times: at IEM Sydney 2023, Thunderpick World Championship 2023, and CS Asia Championships 2023. In all matches, FaZe won, with the team having a series of 14 consecutive victories. However, three consecutive defeats motivate the MOUZ players for revenge, here is the comment of David “frozen” Čerňanský about the final to the HLTV portal:
We have already met with FaZe earlier in this tournament, and I don't think they played their best, to be honest. It felt like we had chances in that game, so I'm looking for revenge.
The Slovak has already won the CS Asia Championships series in 2019. Then, in the MOUZ lineup, there were also players from the active roster of FaZe: Robin “ropz” Kool and Finn “karrigan” Andersen. In addition, for ENCE, who finished second, played Jimmy "Jimpphat" Sala Jeri "sergej" Salo’s brother.
