Today, the Ukrainian organization Monte released a statement in their official Telegram channel, in which they revealed that their team is at risk of missing the first tournament in CS2 - Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023.
According to the organization the underlying problem is that the border service is not letting players out of the country, as Ukraine has declared a general mobilization since February 24, 2022, when Russia unleashed a terrorist war.
Monte:
We risk missing the first big CS2 tournament - IEM Sydney 2023
For us it is another opportunity to make ourselves known in front of the whole world and worthily represent the Ukrainian flag on another continent. But, unfortunately, now we have no opportunity to cross the border, as our players and coach are on the territory of Ukraine - we always kept our word and returned home after the tournaments.
Therefore, not for the first time, we have to ask for help. Ministries, federations, foundations - if you have an opportunity to help us legally to go to the tournament, please write to us at: [email protected]. Or in the direct of our social networks.
We would be grateful for your help or at least a repost!
The organization also asked to write to the post office - [email protected] — if possible to help.
Ukrainian analyst Oleksandr "petr1k" Petryk has already reacted to this statement in his official Telegram channel:
Given that traveling from Kiev to Sydney in current conditions takes three days (and possibly four), Monte's team has Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and maybe a bit of Thursday to find an option to go overseas.
Because as early as the 16th, the first game starts at 6am.
It's really hard to find any legitimate way to travel in that kind of time frame. We're going to need some kind of miracle...
Monte's first game is scheduled for October 16, 2023 against Complexity.
