Monte lost to Virtus.pro in the final of their first-ever S-tier tournament. The match ended with a score of 2:1, with the winner receiving $150,000 and the losing team getting $50,000.
The game was extremely important for both teams. Even before the match, Monte showed their attitude towards the opponent by calling them Outsiders and changing the team's logo to the flag of Armenia, where Virtus.pro allegedly moved to.
Overpass, the weakest map in Monte's map pool, was as expected picked by Virtus.pro. Despite the close score of 13:10, the advantage of Virtus.pro was obvious, it was clear that this team often plays Overpass. In Monte's choice Anubis, the opposite was true: Monte played a confident game and shut down their opponent with a score of 13:10.
The decider Mirage ended with a VP win and a disappointment for Monte's players. In particular, Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev expressed his despair on his Twitter account:
Man its so fucking sad and frustrating. I just wanna win tournaments please...
The next tournament for both teams will be the Thunderpick World Championship 2023. The teams have already reached the quarterfinals and will play their first playoff matches tomorrow: Monte vs Spirit and Virtus.pro vs Heroic.
