Until a few months ago, it seemed that mithR would not be a part of the best Counter-Strike team in the world. To the shock of many fans, he was sidelined along with Apeks when the organization announced it was leaving Counter-Strike and putting the entire team up for sale. But now he's become Liquid head coach.
MithR, considered an experienced coach, was at a crossroads in his career, not knowing where he would go next. But the sudden move to Liquid changed everything, giving him the opportunity to work with some of the best players in the world.
Success Story
When mithR was suspended from Apeks, he had no idea that his future would be with one of the biggest teams in the world. He considered becoming a team teacher or sporting director at a Danish club. “No, I didn't expect that. It's actually a funny story. I wrote to a few schools because I thought I would become a team teacher and maybe start studying, but otherwise I was sure I could have a role as a sports director,“ mithR tells Dust2.dk.
But then Liquid wrote to him, which came as a complete surprise. “There weren't really that many offers as a sports director. There was one project with a Dane who was going to start something that I was interested in, and then there were a few more offers, but they were of such a level that I thought: if I'm going to be a coach, it must be worth it,” he shares.
A new phase with Liquid
MithR was introduced to Liquid in early July, and so far he hasn't had much time to interact with the team. However, his first impressions of working with the players have been positive. “It was fun, interesting and very informative. In addition, it has been a pleasure to work with the players, where I think the discipline is at a similarly high level. You feel like you are working with players who really know what it takes to be among the best,” says mithR.
Final Thoughts
The return of mithR to professional Counter-Strike and his appointment as Liquid's head coach is a significant event for the entire cybersports scene. His experience and knowledge will certainly benefit the team, and fans are eager to see how he can impact Liquid's results in upcoming tournaments.
Liquid's debut match under mithR will be against Virtus.pro today at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups.
