G2 star, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, will miss his team's first match at the BLAST Premier Spring Final group stage. Although he managed to get a visa at the last minute, his passport is still on its way. The postal service is due to deliver it mid-afternoon tomorrow.
This delay means that m0NESY will not be able to join his team for the start of the match, and G2 will have to field a replacement player for the start of the tournament.
Initially, m0NESY's participation in the BLAST Premier Spring Finals was in doubt due to visa issues. As a result, it was announced that he will be replaced by Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas, a legendary Counter-Strike player and coach of the G2 team. Because of this, TaZ will be the oldest player to have played in a major tournament - he is 38 years old.
BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2024 starts today and runs through June 16. The tournament will feature 8 teams competing for a $425,000 prize pool and a spot at BLAST Premier: World Final 2024. G2 will face Spirit in Group B.
