Legendary CS player Finn “karrigan” Andersen, despite his impressive career and many titles won, does not intend to stop there. At the IEM Cologne 2024 media day, he shared his thoughts with Dust2.dk about his future with FaZe, emphasizing his willingness to change if the team demands it.
For more than five years, karrigan has been a cornerstone of FaZe, playing alongside Håvard “rain” Nygaard, who has been with the team for eight years. Together they represent one of the most experienced duos in CS. Despite his many successes, karrigan realizes that time flies fast in eSports and that he must be prepared for any changes.
Ready for change and new challenges
karrigan is open about the fact that the team's priorities come first for him. He stated that he is willing to step aside if FaZe decides that someone else can do a better job in his role. “I don't know how long it will last. I'm taking six months at a time. We have an agreement with FaZe. If the team thinks there is someone else who can do a better job, I am ready to step down,” he shared in an interview.
Self-sacrifice for success
karrigan also noted that he is fully committed to FaZe, but realizes that there will come a point when he will no longer be able to live up to his high standards. He emphasized: “I sacrifice everything. I've worked 140 hours in the last two weeks. I work so hard to make things work. There will come a time when I won't be able to work. But I'd rather let the team make that decision than me.”
The future in eSports
karrigan also reflects on the future, noting that if he loses motivation, he is ready to take a break or even end his career. However, as long as he is full of strength and energy, karrigan is focused on reaching new heights with FaZe. In particular, his current focus is the quarterfinals of IEM Cologne 2024, where the team made it to after an unbelievable kambak against Liquid. Already on Friday FaZe will face SAW at Lanxess Arena, where they will fight in front of thousands of spectators.
