The Swedish team Metizport concluded their run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 during the Opening Stage, losing all three matches. Despite being the first fully Swedish lineup at a major since 2018, the team couldn't compete effectively and finished among the last in the tournament.
Almost all communities reacted negatively to the team's performance, comparing them to the worst team in major history. However, Swedish scene legend Jesper "JW" Wecksell showed support for the team.
Amidst a wave of criticism on social media, both internationally and within Sweden, JW publicly supported the team. He reminded fans that just participating in the major is already a significant achievement for Metizport:
Did they deliver an outstanding performance? No, and the players understand that. But please, especially the Swedish community, remember that they became the first fully Swedish team to qualify for a major in the last six years. That's already a huge step for Swedish CS. Next time will be better, and then even better, and so on.he said
JW also noted that the team should be proud of this stage in their development and urged fans to support the players so they can work with renewed motivation in the next season.
The individual performances of Metizport players only reinforced the overall impression of a failed performance. All five participants finished the major with a negative kill-to-death ratio, and their damage per round was among the lowest of all teams in the stage.
The players' average rating was 5.02. Adamb performed the best, finishing the tournament with a rating of 5.6, the best KPR (0.61), and the highest average damage — 66.35 per round. However, even this wasn't enough for the team to challenge their opponents.
In the English-speaking segment of Reddit, Metizport's performance received a lot of criticism. The team was discussed not only in terms of results but also regarding overall preparation, play style, and even appearance. Below is a selection of the most characteristic comments.
Users didn't hold back, calling Metizport one of the worst teams to ever compete at a major.
They might actually be the worst team to ever play at a major.akkir
Some doubted how fair it was for Metizport to make it to the tournament, having defeated Astralis in one BO3.
I still can't believe they got here by beating Astralis. This system allows for too many flukes.PixelDepth
After isak's comments about issues outside the game, some fans still found no excuse for the weak performance.
isak mentioned they had some issues outside the server, but in the game, it looked like they weren't prepared and lacked motivation.SlowClimb
Many also noted that the team appeared unprepared even visually — as if they ended up at the tournament by accident.

Overall, the community reaction was extremely negative. There was virtually no support — instead, disappointment, ridicule, and discussion prevailed about whether Metizport's participation at such a major was appropriate.
Most likely, the current Metizport lineup won't remain intact. Some players' contracts are expiring, and others have already received offers from other teams. What happens next remains to be seen, but this lineup will likely be remembered as a short but symbolic phase for Swedish CS.
