Jagex has announced the early access release of RuneScape: Dragonwilds on Steam — a cooperative survival simulator with RPG elements set in the familiar RuneScape universe but introducing a new gameplay format focused on exploration, crafting, and survival.

Players will now be transported to a fresh continent, Ashenfall, where ancient dragons have returned. In Dragonwilds, players will have to collect resources, construct shelters, learn abilities, and battle all sorts of threats – from goblins to the dreaded Dragon Queen. The game will be playable alone or in co-op with up to four players.

Technical Features and Unique Mechanics

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is built with Unreal Engine 5, offering stunning graphics and next-gen features. One of the central features in gameplay is the utilization of Anima magic, enabling players to craft magical implements used for resource collection, equipment maintenance, and interaction with their surroundings.

Developer Plans and Community Support

Jagex's Executive Producer, Jesse America, said that they intend to continue to add fresh content to Dragonwilds on a regular basis and actively listen to community input. Eventually, they wish to offer an original survival experience that will attract not only traditional fans of RuneScape but also attract newcomers.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds represents a dramatic leap for the beloved franchise, combining nostalgic appeal of Gielinor with new survival and co-op mechanics.
