The International Esports Federation has decided to suspend the membership of the Russian Esports Federation (RESF) due to violations of the structure's charter. This was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian Esports Federation.
The violation consisted of the Russian side opening RESF representations in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine. However, according to the portal Players, the IESF later decided to allow Russians to compete in their tournaments under a neutral status, citing the norms of the International Olympic Committee.
The further fate of the RESF will be decided at the IESF General Assembly, where the Russian side will either be completely stripped of membership, fully reinstated, or the organization's branches in the occupied territories will be closed.
