The organizers of IEM Sydney 2023 have decided not to install the new patch for CS2, which was released overnight on October 18, on the computers of the championship participants. Instead, the competition will continue on the previous version of the game. The tournament operator announced their decision on Twitter.
According to ESL representatives, the update significantly affected the functionality of binds and aliases, and esports players need additional time to adapt to the new settings. The teams are left to complete the decisive matches of the group stage and conduct five matches in the playoffs.
IEM Sydney 2023 is taking place from October 16 to 22 in Australia. The championship has a prize pool of $250,000. The winner will also receive a slot to participate in IEM Katowice 2024. You can follow the schedule and results of the competition here.
