"I don't think anyone expected us to make the IEM Katowice 2024 playoffs, even we didn't expect it ourselves" - SunPayus on his new team's results

In his latest interview, Falcons Esports sniper Alvaro SunPayus Garcia talked about the success of his new team, as well as many other interesting things.

It is important to note that the interview was done after the Falcons team made it to the IEM Katowice 2024 playoffs with incredible success. In their last match, the team knocked NAVI out of the championship with a 2-0 map score.

Especially for our readers, we have selected the most important things from the interview and compiled everything in a convenient format for you.

First, SunPayus was asked to describe his team's path to the championship playoffs. To which we received the following answer:

I think that's how we did at BLAST. We develop from match to match, so even if we have rough starts at tournaments, we can show that we can fix them as quickly as possible and keep learning. We're a new team right now, so obviously there's going to be a bunch of mistakes in the beginning.

Then SunPayus was asked what was the surprise for his team at this IEM Katowice?

I think that's probably our qualification [for the playoffs]. I don't think anybody expected us to qualify, even we didn't expect it ourselves because we're trying to go step by step. I know we're developing pretty fast, but at the end of the day we're just a new team and we need to keep our feet on the ground. We've qualified, but we're not at our best yet. We just need to keep growing and enjoy the moment in the arena.

Already on February 9, Team Falcons will meet ENCE in the quarterfinals of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 and SunPayus shared his expectations from the match. After all, ENCE now has a great support among the Polish public.

I'm used to playing against the crowd. I don't remember many instances where the crowd was on my team's side, right? So all in all, I'm just happy. I don't put too much importance on playing against my old team. I'm just happy, it's going to be a beautiful match and whatever happens, I'll be happy.
