"I only found out that s1mple would not be playing at Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023 after he had already landed in Australia" - Aleksib

The captain of Natus Vincere, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, recently appeared on a podcast hosted by the Finnish organization HAVU Gaming, where he discussed various interesting topics. This included how he found out that the team's former sniper, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, would miss Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023.

It's worth noting that the news of Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev missing Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023 became public barely two days before the start of the championship. He was replaced by the team's coach, Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy.

Here's how Aleksi commented on the situation:

"I found out that s1mple would not play at Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023 only after I had already landed in Australia."

It turns out that the team captain simply did not have time to find a replacement for the tournament, which led to the coach having to play.

Additionally, he shared interesting insights about Ninjas in Pyjamas. When he joined the NiP team, there were already "fights," but he doesn't want to use that word because it wasn't that bad, yet he can't find another word to describe it.

He didn't go into details but mentioned that the way he learned about his departure from NiP was terrible. He added that NiP's problems cannot be solved by reshuffling players.

Below is a brief excerpt from the entire podcast:

  • The team is feeling good about their results in CS2.
  • Biggest problem in G2 were the roles, players were in the wrong roles and there were communication problems.
  • Bad vibes kind of started from losing Katowice, and they didn't get along with the coach. Adds that the management and coach have the most influence in the team.
  • Felt like he was stepping on toes, when he tried to take charge. Acknowledges that he didn't call or play well. He started to play better and be more positive on comms after the team let him know he was on the chopping block.
  • The interviewer asks him about internet rumors that Niko hates him, Aleksi says he has a good relationship with Niko and all the guys from G2.
  • Comments that NiP is a legit org 'in a certain way', adds that it was a rollercoaster
  • When he came into the NiP team, there were previously existing 'fights', but he doesn't want to use that word because it wasn't that bad, but can't find other words to describe it.
  • Doesn't go into details, but says the way he found about getting removed from NiP was horrible.
  • Says NiP's problems can't be solved by moving players.
  • With s1mple, he had his first experienced sniper since allu in ENCE.
  • Says s1mple is the GOAT of CSGO.
  • Coming months are going to be absolute grind with NaVi, nothing else.
  • Bootcamps with the NaVi squad are fun, in the sense that all of them just grind and are on the same page about work ethic.
