How to duplicate skins in CS:GO - and is it possible in 2023?

The mysterious phenomenon of skin duplication is a result of a technical error made by the developers, where various items would be duplicated.

This unfair trick began its history in the early days of skins. During the period from 2013 to 2015, players discovered various vulnerabilities in the insufficiently protected system. Many of them were able to amass huge fortunes, as even during mass skin duplication, the items themselves had significant value, albeit insignificant compared to current prices.

Our article may seem useless if not for the emergence of new successful cases of duplication. And if this information has become public, it means that many people have taken advantage of it.

What is dupe?

Duping, or "dupe," is a term derived from the English word "duplicate," which means deception. It refers to a method of obtaining items in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) that is based on deceiving the technical support of Steam. During the time when this method was prevalent, many users were able to earn tens of thousands of dollars. This led to significant damage to the game's economy, resulting in a substantial decrease in prices for valuable items. To this day, users may encounter items that were obtained using this deceptive method, although they are often unaware that the item they acquired is actually a copy created through deception.

Does duping still work today?

As it turns out, even in 2023, it is still possible to dupe items. The story associated with this involves acquiring balance on Steam using items from the Steam Marketplace. The essence is to buy inexpensive items at a desired price.

We do not encourage you to engage in such activities, as in the event of failure, your entire inventory and account may be permanently banned.

Using this balance, the author purchases a knife, while transferring the remaining insignificant items to another one of their accounts.

A little later, the same account is topped up with another batch of money using the same method, amounting to several hundred dollars, and on the same day, the author receives a "red flag" for illegal actions involving the balance.

Then, the author contacts the support service, claiming to be a collector and stating that the purchases at inflated prices are simply an overpayment for uniqueness. They claim not to know who acquired their items; they are just trying to make a profit.

By the way, this is not the first occurrence of this flag on this account, but it almost always disappears after contacting support.

It turned out that this case was not an exception, and the previously transferred skins, which had no significant value, were also duped.

Later, they were moved to another account, where currently reside five pairs of the listed items:

We visited this account to compare the information using Float, and as you can see, everything matches:

If you are familiar with the quality of items, you undoubtedly understand that finding two items with the same wear level is almost impossible.

This page needs clarification: the account owner was previously unaware of this possibility, and everything happened by chance. Skilled dupers use this method for duping expensive stickers since they do not have Float values, and therefore, the chances of being caught are lower.
