Nikita "⁠HeavyGod⁠" Martynenko marked his first victory with G2 in a 2-0 win over FaZe and later gave an interview where he spoke about his perfectionist mindset, the team’s structure, and the influence of coach sAw. The interview was published on HLTV.

HeavyGod admitted that despite his great showing in London, he never feels fully satisfied with his level.

It feels amazing. Of course, I'm not satisfied fully with my level because I can do better but I'm really happy with the win because we performed well as a team and this is the most important thing, the victory.

He described how the team stayed grounded in the arena despite the crowd’s strong support for FaZe.

I think we try to stay humble and support each other, help each other, keep everyone accountable. Just, give everyone compliments and support each other, hype up, give your best on the server because we don't work for nothing. That's how I see it. We work really hard as a team, as individuals, we want to go higher and higher.

When asked about his own level, he explained why he can be harsh on himself even while putting up elite statistics.

There's a lot of easy kills that I don't kill sometimes. It annoys me. I'm harsh on myself, I know, everybody says it to me, but this is me. I'm trying to be a perfect player. I know it's impossible, nobody is perfect, but I'm trying to go higher and higher with my level, and it's really important for me to maintain my level and go higher and higher.

He praised sAw’s influence since taking over as head coach in July, noting the structure and flexibility he brought to the roster.

sAw is a really great guy, he's really smart. He puts in an insane amount of hours, he teaches us a lot of small stuff, he goes through small mistakes with us, and explains different ways we can understand the game or different situations. He's giving us solutions for, really it can be anything.”

The coach’s ideas have reinforced G2’s teamwork and resilience.

We have structure, everyone knows their role — we can switch our role, because you cannot be stuck in one role and that's it, people need to be flexible. We know we can cover up each other, sAw is putting it in us that we need to cover each other, and push each other to our limits and just continue believing in each other and pushing each other. Just continue working hard and good times will be ahead of us.

Asked about G2’s current identity compared to past versions of the team, HeavyGod stressed that balance now matters more than star power.

We don't need an insane superstar or anything because we know how to work together as a unit. We cover up for each other, we can support really good. Of course we can be better, of course, but we are doing our best. Mario [malbsMd] is insane, MATYS, SunPayus, huNter- is IGLing but also fragging a lot. We have a solid team and we just need to work harder and harder to get better.

Finally, he shared his thoughts on facing FURIA in the semifinals after already meeting them earlier in the season.

I'm open-minded. They're a strong opponent. We faced them twice in Cologne, one win, one loss. We're going to prepare well, sleep well, and do our best on the server.
