HeavyGod at the center of heated Liquipedia flag incident discussions

Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko, who joined Cloud9 new CS2 roster yesterday, is in the center of recent news as he changed his flag on Liquipedia.

HeavyGod, who has Ukrainian roots, used to display the Ukrainian flag on his Liquipedia profile. However, in May of this year, he removed it. This change coincided with the emergence of rumors about the Israeli player joining Cloud9. Liquipedia does not change flags without a request from a player, which indicates that HeavyGod probably did it on his own.

After the news was published on various social media, the player returned the Ukrainian flag to his Liquipedia profile. He explained on Twitter that the removal of the flag was a mistake that the administrators quickly corrected.

After that, he posted a long post in which he wrote:

I don't like to write these things, but I'm going to. Since today there was chaos about me taking down my Ukrainian flag. So no, I'm not going to interfere in politics because I'm an esports player and I don't participate in it. My parents are from Ukraine, and my grandparents are Russian and Ukrainian. I like everyone who respects me and says a minimum of words. I don't need to say much because Wikipedia made a mistake and it was corrected. I am not going to hide the fact that I am Ukrainian and Russian together. I have family friends in both countries. Thank you for reading, boys and girls, I love you. Remember, be a good person and respectful, and everyone will give you the same, no matter where you come from or what religion you are

The community's reaction to this situation was different, most of the community remained shocked even after the flag change and did not support his decision to move to cloud9, because there is a war in Ukraine now and it is a bad idea to play with Russians when you have Ukrainian roots. In turn, another part of the community supported him and wished him good luck in the new team.
