gob b left BIG after 7 years of work

BIG announced that gob b has stepped down as the head coach of their Counter-Strike 2 team. He was one of the founders of the team in 2017 and his career with the team went through several stages.

Highlighting his versatility from player to coach across various games, he held positions such as a CS and Valorant player, manager, coach, and team staff. The decision about his departure was made after the disappointing performance at ESL Pro League Season 19, held in Malta where BIG finished 13th-16th.

For gob b himself, this was an unexpected decision, as they had fulfilled the minimum objective for the previous tournament, and he was fully planning and preparing for the next, but the majority of players were against his candidacy and made the decision. Here is how he commented on it from his side:

I gave all my energy to developing our team since I was asked to return. Despite the tough circumstances and difficult decisions, I always worked with the resources available and together with the players achieved, and sometimes exceeded, expectations. Our last goal was to make it to the EPL playoffs, which we did. Knowing this, I was already working on further plans and analyses and was shocked when most players initiated these changes. I don’t know what awaits me in the future. First, I need to deal with my current feelings and need some time to recover.

Over the years, gob b’s dynamic contributions transitioned him from playing roles to management, enriching BIG with his extensive experience. In anticipation of the upcoming IEM Dallas 2024, assistant coach kakafu will take his place. Whether he will become a full-time coach in the future was not stated.

BIG will play their first match at IEM Dallas 2024 against NAVI in the quarterfinals of the upper bracket of Group B. His departure may significantly impact BIG’s performance, as he was one of the key figures in their lineup. This makes the viewing of BIG’s matches even more interesting for the audience.
